My Story
A native of East Greenbush, New York, Glasser was an Engineers assistant coach for five years before being promoted in December of 2018. He worked primarily with the hitters and infielders, while also coaching third base. He helped the Engineers to a 105-98 record as an assistant, including 23 wins in 2014 and 29 in 2015.
In his first season at the helm, 2019, he led the team to a 20-19 record and an appearance in the Liberty League Tournament. Rensselaer defeated Union in the Wild Card to advance to the double elimination round. Five Engineers were named All-League, including Cole Paquin, who was also chosen as the Rookie of the Year.
The 2020 team won two of its first five contests before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A truncated 2021 campaign followed and RPI managed six wins despite a limited roster because of coronavirus-related restrictions. Regardless of the shortened season, Ryan Yerby was named the Pitcher of the Year in the conference.
Prior to joining the RPI staff, Glasser spent the summer of 2013 as an assistant coach for the Saratoga Brigade of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. He was an assistant at his high school, Columbia, from 2012-13, helping the team to a Section 2 title in 2012.
Glasser served as an assistant at Siena College from 2009-11, where he was in charge of the team's offense, as well as fielding positioning. He assisted with recruiting and coached third base as the Saints set six program records during the 2010 season, including hits, runs, home runs, RBI, total bases and at bats. Four players he coached were selected in the Major League Baseball amateur draft.
While an assistant, he worked as an admission's associate in the Admissions Department, giving presentations and communicating with prospective students and their families. This helped not only his understanding of the admissions process for student athletes, but also how families navigate the recruiting and admissions process.
The Engineers opened the 2022 season by playing its first 18 games on its home turf on their way to a 14-win campaign. Pitcher Chris Grome, a Ph.D. student, was among five who earned All-Conference honors before he was selected All-Region and named CoSIDA National Academic All-America.
Glasser coached 92 student-athletes who have earned Liberty League All-Academic recognition; while 54 have been named All-Liberty League, including Sean Conroy '15, the 2015 conference Pitcher of the Year, Cole Paquin ‘22, the 2019 Rookie of the Year, and Ryan Yerby ‘21, the 2021 Pitcher of the Year. Seven have been selected All-Region and three have been All-America.
While an assistant, he worked as an admission's associate in the Admissions Department, giving presentations and communicating with prospective students and their families. This helped not only his understanding of the admissions process for student athletes, but also how families navigate the recruiting and admissions process.
As a graduate assistant at the University of West Alabama in 2008-09, Glasser coached the outfielders and was the team's first base coach. He also supervised the Tigers' strength & conditioning programs and aided the program's recruiting efforts.
Glasser is a 2008 graduate of Marist College, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in History. A catcher for the Red Foxes, he graduated ranked fourth in school history in fielding percentage (.988).
He and his wife Bryana live in Rochester with their young son, Walker and dog Gio.
